13/7/26 — companies removing dirtbike kickstarts is stupid
not sure when this became the trend but more and more bikes are ditching kickstarts for electric start only, and honestly it's a bit of a joke. kickstarts are simple, they don't rely on a battery, and if your electrics ever die out on a ride you're not just stuck standing there. feels like companies are cutting corners to save a few bucks on manufacturing and calling it "innovation." give me a lever any day, way more reliable and way more satisfying to kick over anyway. and really its nothing about "making the bike lighter" because the thing only weighs like half a kilo at most so i think it's more about making these things pretty, which is stupid because in a race i'd rather my bike look like shit than not be able to start.
